Introduction Quake 2 and 3 are amazing games which throw constant action and challenge at you and demand great skill and attitude to master. The great challenge for newer players is that both games are very difficult and this is made even worse by the fact that there are players with literally years of experience. This section has been designed to point newer players in the right direction. I don't pretend to know everything - I'm no where near the best, but I know enough after playing since 1998 to be able to offer useful advice.
There's no shortcut to Quake skill, no secret formula, it's a simple case of practice, practice and yet more practice. There are some pointers though and I'm going to try to share all my knowledge about playing both Quake 2 and Quake 3. I try to cover the main areas of skill section by section. This initial playing guide section is applicable to both Quake 2 and Quake 3. More detail about the individual games can be found in the respective sections. By the way, if you came here looking for a single player walk-through you can find one here.
