Q3DM6 - The Campgrounds

The is the first "major" map. It's very large, on three levels and some would say it's the best map in the game. Personally I like this map and tend to do all right on it as well. First off, remember to time the Quad (/seta cg_drawtimer 1) as soon as it is picked up. Timing two minutes is very easy.

Jumping up the main jump pad can be a bit precarious for two reasons. One, there's often someone camping it and you're very vulnerable as you land, and two, you're also the target for a good railer as you spring up. Still, you don't really have much option unless you want to go the long way round so you just have to risk it. Grab the rocket launcher and then rush to the red armour area which is full of goodies including a megahealth, a teleporter and loads of ammo. Definitely an area to visit regularly. From the red armour you can drop down to the jump pad up to the railgun.

From the railgun, try sniping across if there's anyone about and if not drop down and take the yellow armour. You can then head down to the ground floor, get the plasma gun, etc, etc. That's one good route, but there are many more. Tips-wise I recommend laying your hands on the plasma gun first and using this to secure the rocket launcher. The long corridors make the plasma gun a superb FFA weapon. Other than that, get as much armour as possible and keep on the move.

There are no secrets that I'm aware of on this map but there are quite a few rocket jumps to master if you're skilled enough. You can rj to the railgun or up from the yellow armour to the causeway above. It's also possible to rj to the rocket launcher from the middle level. Not easy but do-able. I found the following demo on the net. It's a little bit juddery for some reason but "Banjo" shows off about six rocket jumps, all in one superb run. Very skillful. I tried to repeat it myself but gave up pretty quickly :)
