Q2DM4 - Lost Hallways Deathmatch
Quite often, after a brilliant game on The Frag Pipe, people immediately disconnect when this map starts. Frequently I'm one of them because it can be quite a dull map. It's dominated by the BFG and it can get very tedious indeed in the machinegun corridor with BFG blast after BFG blast. The best advice here is if you can't beat 'em you should join 'em so don't be afraid to get in there and fire off the BFG yourself. However, firing randomly down the corridor isn't always productive and I would recommend moving further down and possible only firing near the yellow armour/hyperblaster area. The chaingun is available in the main corridor and it's always best to then collect the machinegun and ammo so you have a topped up chainer.
Collect the yellow armour, which is something you should always aim to do if you can, then head for the railer. Be cautious because this is one of the game's notorious camping spots. A camper can just stand at the top of the stairs and rail you on the way up. It's possible to rocket jump in the window to get him if you get this. I usually check the rocket launcher first, without actually jumping down to it. I then move back to the machinegun corridor and rail anyone who's hanging around.
The rocket launcher is a class weapon on this map as there are several long corridors to fire it down. The only other thing to do is time the quad. The path to the Quad also features a megahealth/red armour spawn down at the bottom of a ladder. After that room there's usually someone camping the grenade launcher in the next room, so look out for them. That's about all there is to it on this map. Because of the BFG, it's very hit and miss and it's difficult to play it the same way every time. Also, the sheer size of it means that there aren't many crowds of players to target and I usually find myself searching for people to attack. That's why I usually quit out of boredom. However, the Claranet server isn't too bad because of the low 30 frag limit. Teamplay This map is no longer played in any league, although it was used for one UKCCL season as I remember.
