Savage
Universe - Savage run loads of leagues and frequent
LAN's to help keep the game alive and have been central
to the scene for as long as I can remember. The Savage
forums
are always buzzing with discussion and there's a decent
demo archive. Another useful feature is the clan listing,
CAPS,
from which you can find clan website links and player
listings in each clan.
Quad Nation
- Following the rebirth of Barrysworld as Freddyshouse, Quakenation
changed name and now this great coverage and scene site is
known as QuadWorld. Still looks the same, though. This site
is run by Athena but has a lot of contributors. It's as old
as the scene itself and continues to be the best source of
coverage for leagues run by Barrys-, er Freddysworld.
Freddyshouse
- This is the relaunched version of Barrysworld following
the collapse of the BW/Game.net partnership. At the time of
writing only the forums have been resurrected but these are
very active and other content will surely follow again.
Dance Macabre Tribute
- There's loads of great content on this Polish scene site,
including EUROQ2L and NDML write-ups, news and loads of great
new and classic demos. Definitely worth a regular visit.
ES Reality
- This is a massive scene site, which is updated several
times a day and features numerous articles, coverage and
columns. It covers all online gaming but concentrates
on Quake, Counterstrike and UT.
Cached
- This is linked as a great demo site, but coming back
to check it out (Feb04) I see that it is a really busy
scene site as well, with global news on leagues and
competitions and masses of content.
Gotfrag
- Your online E-sports resource, this US-based site
covers all the major online news from the world of CS,
Quake and Halo.
Q2 Central
- This site was centred around the Wireplay scene but
it also hosts several Wireplay clan sites and provides
good links to other sites. At the time of writing (Feb04)
updates have begun to dry up because the Q2 league is
no longer active but the site remains the source of Quake
content.
UK
Gamer - This is a great site, with regularly updated
columns from a wide-ranging group of contributors
and excellent news. It has now branched away from
coverage somewhat and is more of a hardware review
site, but there's still scene news on here.
Planetquake
- Any Quake links page without PQ simply isn't a links page.
This is the centre of Quake for the whole world. It's got
everything - tips, information, mods, demos, and probably
the largest file archive on the net.
Bluesnews
- Whatever the Quake/gaming news, this site will have it first.
It's the ultimate news site and probably the one used by all
the news-writers for the other sites on this page for their
new material I expect :).
