2003 - Massive Killing Capacity
Now
this may be of little interest to any non-MKC players, but I really
wanted the old Quake 2 site to be available for nostalgia's sake,
since it was the best clan I ever played in, and gave me all my
best memories of the game, and on top of that I made some great
friends playing for them until I stopped active play at the end
of 2001.
I've resurrected the whole site with the exception of
the demos. I intend to find some of the best MKC demos and upload
them, but for now I've just uploaded perhaps MKC's proudest achievement,
which was a rare win over Clan Stealth in the UKCCL Season 7 Free
Cup. Download here.
Other wins over Rv on Q2DM6, and the Free Cup final games with Suicide
Squad are likely contenders for future upload.
Anyway, for anyone who's interested in this great old-school
Quake 2 clan, which over its long life featured top players like
Blaze, Evil Santa, Tribal, Axe, kD, DocGonzo, Moneypenny, Kerensky,
Nicotine, Ticktoc, Sgt. Simmo, WorldEater, Snakebite, Caldazar,
Spiritos, Prophet, Luprachan, Ruven, Sativa, Zipgun, Dachande, Kaa,
Toadkilla, Warchild and yours truly, here's the link.

2003 - Demos Available - Happy Easter!
Just a quick note to say that I've now uploaded all
my missing demos to SavageDemos.
I also spotted a couple of my old ones on Q2Central
so linked those too!! Everything should now be available again.
I somehow doubt that either of those two sites will fold on me so
I should be OK this time :). Also, I've uploaded a new demo
of a great duel on The Rage (ztn2dm3).
Also, though I know the broadbanders out there won't
care, I've compressed all the HTML on this site using a great free
utility called, rather unimaginatively, HTML
Compress. It should make the pages load a little quicker anyway.

2003 - Memories of Old-School Quake 2 Clans
When I started work on my history
last year I also intended to produce a write-up on many of the old
clans. I got as far as writing the following pieces and planned
to expand on them before publishing them here. I was also a bit
nervous of some details being wrong since it's all from memory.
Anyway, I never got round to doing that so thought it was time to
show them. Sorry if I've made mistakes or misjudged anyone, but
I'm telling it purely as I remember things as a fringe player. If
you're old-school like me you'll hopefully enjoy a few memories
anyway.
Removed from column - This
now has its own page

2003 - Railing against the Tide
Haven't
checked this site since the last time and Quake 2 has really suffered
in the meantime. I couldn't find a UK server to play on anywhere
and couldn't get on the Jolt RA2 server for some reason. Also, the
best Quake 2 demo site ever, 3D-Demos, seems to have gone for good
- shame it couldn't have been left inactive, but then I guess it
cost something to keep hosted.
A lot of my old demos were on there and I had linked
their files to free up my space, so now several of my demo downloads
don't work. However, I've started to transfer some of them to SavageDemos
instead, working from newest to oldest and highest rank to lowest,
and will hopefully get them all done soon. On a 33.6K modem connection
it's a bit of a nightmare!
One of the last demos I got from there was an NDML semi-final
match between Sweden and Finland, which was a classic and very,
very close match. I have the final demos as well, featuring Germany
and Sweden so I'll upload those next. Download it on the demos
page if you haven't seen it. I've also tidied some links. The clan
sites chart is probably redundant now but I've left it for now.
Other than that everything should be OK, but let me know of any
major problems.
Anyway, it's not all bad news because Q2Central
has been ressurrected and is looking pretty active, with some plans
to write some Quake 2 histories of their own and host some demos.
Looking forward to comparing their history with mine, especially
since my history is a bit flimsy on the
Wireplay side of things, which their's should improve on. As far
as my site goes, I won't be taking it down any time soon. Eventually
I will probably ask someone to host it for me, but for now it stays
put as my home on the net. Bye for now!
