27 May 2001 - Overdue

After a long absence I'm back once again. Seems like I'm always taking breaks from this site ;). I've now also got a column over on the XTC site as well, which is nice to have. Tried to turn them down, but they begged, oh how they begged (I can still hear the wails). I think it was that way round anyway ;).

Actually, updating the XTC on all the numerous occasions I have done so far (ie 2) has reminded me how much this site could be improved if I only had the web skills.

I was trying to teach myself some PHP before because this site ought to be an awful lot easier to update than it actually is. It's a nightmare in fact with 100 pages and no shared HTML anywhere. The limit of my technical skills so far has been in using a style sheet! No, please don't stand up, hehe.

What's been happening in Revilla-land then. Not a lot really, just some dull exams, yadda, yadda, yadda. I can forget them now until the resits come in November :). Despite revising I still kept up with some playing, though I stopped playing in clan games for a couple of weeks. As you may know, RA3's my main game now and MKC are well placed in both the major UK leagues, Savage and Barrysworld so there have been some great games recently with plenty more to come. I think that Division 2 is a great place to be. You're in that position where it's not so serious that you have to praccy every night to compete, but at the same time you get some competitive games and a minimum of defaults. We've been drawn against Clan X in Round 2 of the Savage RA3 Cup. Bad draw :). Clan X are easily one of the best RA3 clans in Europe and may be about to prove themselves the best as they've just reached the final of the Clanbase cup. WP to them in beating all the European clans when some didn't give them a chance. Find all the demos, many pov ones, over on Clanbase and stay posted for the final. Also, their site definitely deserves a high place in my clan sites chart so I'll be updating that shortly.

On the demo front, I'll hopefully update with some new ones soon but I haven't seen many Q2 demos lately :( and I don't tend to watch any Q3 ones, hehe. Here's a link to the recent Savage Free Cup final, though, which CS won in devastating style.

Games-wise I never actually bought Black and White despite the fact that I've wanted it since I first read about Peter Molyneux leaving Bullfrog to form Lionhead, oh about three years ago. The game looks class but I've been put off by the reports of it being buggy and over-involved, so I may wait for the inevitable sequel. I'm currently downloading a demo of Hostile Waters (only 100Mb of 145Mb to go), which looks like a class game, but maybe one of those that the public just don't go for despite all the magazines raving about it. Battlezone was like that. Scored massively in every magazine and no one bought it. It was truly amazing though. One of the reasons why democracy is so flawed. People just don't know what's good for them ;). Back soon!
